Jeffery Banner

Dear friends of the Jeffery Concerts:

It has been a great privilege and pleasure to be the Artistic Director of the Jeffery Concerts for all these years. I and our board members had been looking forward to the remaining two concerts of this current season, as well as to our plans for 2020/2021.

As you are all aware, events in the past months have altered lives and plans round the world. Most of us could never have imagined the manner in which our interactions with each other would be affected – from a global perspective to our most intimate social groups.

The Gordon Jeffery Music Foundation continues to hope that we will be able to present another season of the Jeffery Concerts for you. We feel that in this time especially it will be so meaningful for us to all be with one another again. We want to again share with you some of the most wonderful music, written to express the deepest feelings of these great composers.

We had also looked forward to joining festivals and musicians around the world in celebrating the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth. We have rescheduled the March concerts featuring Beethoven's complete sonatas for violin and piano until late June, however as you may be aware Wolf Hall has now cancelled all scheduled events up until September 7th. Jonathan Crow and I hope that we may still be able to present these concerts to you at some future time.

Of course we will only be able to present any of our concerts if it is deemed safe to gather together again. The Board is meeting virtually on a regular basis and discussing options for presenting concerts, once we know that concert venues of our size will be able to open again. We will be updating our website with any new information and will email patrons when we are again able to invite you back to our concerts.

I hope you are all managing as well as possible in this difficult time, and I very much look forward to see you all again soon, to celebrate the creation and appreciation of music – surely one of the elements that has bound us together as peoples since our earliest beginnings.
