Haydn's luminous String Quartet in D major, Op. 76 No. 5 opens the evening with wit, elegance, and dazzling invention, before giving way to the compelling force of Kelly-Marie Murphy's Dark Energy. The program reaches its pinnacle with Beethoven's monumental String Quartet in A minor, Op. 132 — a work of profound humanity whose sublime "Holy Song of Thanksgiving" remains one of the crowning achievements of the chamber music repertoire.
